Bed bugs are little pests that feed on blood and can be irritating to humans. Bed bugs are not known to transmit or spread disease but can cause other health issues. It is important to check for them especially when traveling.

There has been an increase in bed bugs in the United States. This may be due to many reasons such as people traveling a lot more. Also lack of knowledge on how to preventing these critters from multiplying could be a big reason. The more pesticides are used, the bed bugs may also start to get resistant to the same chemical. Lastly, not being knowledgeable on issues concerning how to prevent a treat bed bugs can be a big reason for the increase.

If you are away from home or cleaning up, these are things to look for:

  • Live bed bugs.
  • Reddish stains on mattresses or sheets caused by bed bugs that have been crushed.
  • Dark, very small spots.
  • Eggs and eggshells, which are about 1mm.
  • Pale yellow¬†skins that nymphs shed as they grow¬†larger.

Bed bugs hide in a variety of places. It is not just around the bed. They can be found in the seams of chairs and couches or between cushions. They can also be in electrical receptacles and appliances. Another place is where a wall and the ceiling meet. Depending on how bad the manifestation is can result in more places that bed bugs will hide.
